International trade delegation savours the taste of WA

Western Australia's premium quality food and beverages have been showcased to international buyers as part of the Taste WA 2025 trade mission delivered by the Western Australian Government.

More than 20 international buyers toured Perth, the South West and Great Southern recently to learn more about WA's first-class food and beverage offerings.

The mission featured buyers from China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, United Arab Emirates and Taiwan.

The six-day program enabled buyers to engage with more than 90 WA agribusinesses, sample premium products and gain insight into provenance and production.

It included immersive experiences in seafood, horticulture, lamb, beef, wagyu, truffles, abalone and more, along with incredible paddock-to-plate dining experiences focused on WA produce.

The delegation also attended WA's biggest food and beverage industry trade show, Meet the Buyer, in Perth, allowing visitors to connect with producers from around the State.

The delegation was facilitated through the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, along with Austrade TradeStart partners from the Great Southern Development Commission, South West Development Commission and Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA, with the support of the Department of Energy and Economic Diversification.

This mission was the first grain mission to Australia organised for Philippines buyers since 2017, with a focus on exploring commercial opportunities in both food-grade and animal feed grains.

Fourteen delegates from 10 companies attended government and industry briefings and met with 11 WA exporters at a business matching event. Site visits were also conducted to help delegates better understand the State’s grains industry.

Register you interest: trade reform for agricultural exporters – research participant panel

The Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) is working to continually improve the experience of exporting agricultural goods from Australia.

DAFF would like to hear from people across all commodities and job types. They are particularly interested in hearing from you if you:

  • work at any point in the exporting process (from farmgate to consignments being received in importing countries). You might describe your role as producing, trading, freight forwarding, transporting… or something else entirely.

  • deal with the paperwork or administrative bits of exporting – these might be management, administration, data, finance, or logistics roles.

  • are new to exporting or interested in becoming an exporter in the next two years.

DAFF is building a list of people who want to participate in research projects (Panel). If you register your details, they may add you as a member of this Panel and contact you when they wish to conduct a research project.

Your input as a participant in their research projects will help make their services easy, effective, supportive and clear.

More informaiton about Trade Reform for Agricultural Exporters – Research Participant Panel can be found on the DAFF website.

Australian beef industry sets global benchmark in sustainability performance

The Australian beef industry has released its 2025 Annual Update under the Australian Beef Sustainability Framework (ABSF), showcasing record-breaking environmental achievements, strengthened market access, and a clear roadmap for future sustainability leadership.

Since 2005, the industry has reduced net CO₂-e emissions by 70.1%, largely driven by carbon sequestration in the landscape on grazing land.

Beef production reached an all-time high of 2.75 million tonnes, achieved with improved efficiency and reduced waste.

Solid waste to landfill in the processing sector fell by 71.6% between 2022 and 2024, and 98% of cattle were processed through independently accredited animal welfare facilities.

On the trade front, the industry alleviated $109 million in non-tariff barriers, while exports to the United States surged by more than 30%.

The ABSF continues to align with global standards including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (GRSB) Global Goals, ensuring Australian beef remains a trusted, high-value protein in international markets.
