NOW REPRESENTING LUMIN WAKOA

Harper’s is delighted to announce the representation of New York-based artist Lumin Wakoa. Wakoa's debut presentation with the gallery, Alive, took place in November 2022 at Harper's Apartment. Her work is currently featured in Ripe, which opened this Wednesday, February 15, at Harper's Los Angeles; a forthcoming solo exhibition will take place at Taymour Grahne Projects, London, later this month.

A vivid testament to the power of color and brushwork, Wakoa’s practice explores the thresholds of perception and instinct. With a keen eye for the subtleties of nature, Wakoa often works en plein air, capturing the essence of the world around her in fluid, gestural strokes. By rejecting the impulse to categorize or label, Wakoa creates powerful, impressionistic compositions that invite us to contemplate the underlying forces of time, memory, and desire. Her paintings are not just depictions of the world, but open-ended invitations to immerse ourselves in a universe of sensations, where intuition reigns supreme.
