![]() Week of July 8, 2024![]() Michael Garcia I hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe. It's been an unsettling last few days. Hurricane Beryl left a path of destruction, impacting millions. Yet despite the flooding, downed power lines and uprooted trees, you all proved once again why Houston Methodist Sugar Land is the best. I want to express my deepest gratitude and admiration for each of you - for coming together and taking care of our patients. My thoughts are with everyone who experienced this storm. Many of you arrived to work early, others stayed behind late - your sacrifices have not not gone unnoticed. I know it's hard to leave your families behind during a dangerous situation - it's something I still struggle with after years of storm coverage. But we all do it for the same reason - to make sure our patients receive the best care. Today I am happy to report we are nearly back to normal operations. Internet has been restored and power has returned to all of our buildings except for Brooks Street. CenterPoint is still working to restore power there. Please make sure you stay in contact with your manager for updates. I also want to acknowledge those of you who have suffered damage to your homes or property or are still without power. Please know we are here to support you. If you need assistance in the aftermath of the storm, I encourage you to access our employee resources by visiting this page. Thank you for everything - for everything you do for the hospital and our community. Please take care and stay safe.
