NEWS UPDATE

19 May 2023

Publishers note

Credit where credit is due. I had the privilege of attending the Marina Industries Association Awards function this week. The evening was a success for so many reasons. Firstly, my congratulations to Suzanne Davies and her MIA team for delivering a sensational evening. Well done to their major sponsor, Nautilus Marine Insurance, who invested in support of the industry and, in turn, was rewarded by the caliber of the entries, which were first class.

Finally, a huge congratulations to all the businesses who submitted awards. Winners are winners and recognised on stage, but all entries were winners, having had the courage and conviction in their own products to be able to stand up and say, "We are proud of and believe in what we have to offer".

All the award winners are listed in this week's eNews, except one. The last one is the latest inductee to the Marina of the Year Hall of Fame, a deserving winner. A fabulous family with a fabulous Australian nautical history. Check Monday's Marine Business News for that story.

My congratulations again to the MIA team, and a special mention also for MIA President Andrew Chapman who, apart from mastering the emcee duties on the evening, is amassing a very credible knock as the skipper of an Association that has continued to go from strength to strength.

This time next week, the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show will have completed a full day's trading and will be preparing to open the doors for the day two. My best wishes to the entire show team for a safe and successful event. If the planned product releases and events are anything to go by, the recreational boating market is in for a real treat. I will be there, so please stop and say hello.
