Saturday Edition
Good morning and happy Saturday! We hope you’re all feeling relaxed and refreshed after a long week. We certainly are! Any plans for today? I (Vella) am pretty excited because my friends and I are going climbing today! I know, I’m quite the daredevil, eh? Well, I'm trying to stay active and do new things, so I thought I'd give it a go. I'll let you know how it goes in next week's newsletter. Are you doing anything exciting today? If you are, we'd love to hear all about it in our forum here!
But before I get too carried away, let’s get into today’s activities, starting with the answer to yesterday’s riddle. So what was it again?
What has two heads, four eyes, six legs, and a tail?
Did you get it? The answer is, of course, a man riding a horse! We also accepted those who answered someone walking their dog! We must admit, this one had us stumped for a while. But as always, you managed to solve it! If you got the answer correct, head further down this email for a shout-out just for you!
Now, onto our next segment for the day, ‘What Would the Grandkids Say?’ Today, we’re taking a look at the phrase 'gas up’! When you gas someone up, you're basically complimenting them or making them feel good about themselves. It's often used as a form of flattery or to make someone feel appreciated. You can say this to someone who's done a great job or to someone who's looking particularly good that day. So next time your grandkids are doing something well or feeling down, make sure to ‘gas them up’ to lift their spirits!
So what's happening in Australia and around the world today?

Today’s ‘Yesterday’s Australia’ segment is thanks to @Rhondi, who shared a lovely childhood memory: ‘I was born and lived in a small country town. It was safe as everyone looked out for each other. No one locked their doors. We used to spend heaps of time in the bush and playing sports. We called adults aunties or uncles as respect was how we were brought up. If someone in your family was sick, neighbours would help with meals if it was my mum.’
What a beautiful memory! It’s heartwarming to read about how everyone looked out for each other and how kind they were. It sounds like Rhondi had a wonderful childhood, full of outdoor adventures and a real sense of community. It’s very different to what many children experience today. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful memory with us, @Rhondi!

A big brown bear walks into the Beef & Burgundy Bar and asks for a beer.
The barman (bar person) says, ‘Sorry, we don’t serve beer to big brown bears at the Beef & Burgundy Bar.’
The big brown bear beats up the barman and again asks for a beer.
Ahahaha, this is hilarious! We didn’t see that twist at the end coming. A big thank you to @Skipton for sharing this one with us. Read the rest of the joke here.
