Saturday Edition
Well, hello there, members! Welcome to another weekend edition of our newsletter. If you’re not quite awake yet, trust us, we feel you. It’s Saturday morning, and we all deserve a little sleep in. It’s been a long week, after all, and we’ve certainly had a busy one over here! Anyway, we know of something that can shake off sleepiness even further: our daily good morning in a different language! We have a language recommendation from member Ray B called Pidgin English. We have to admit, we’ve never heard of it before, but we’re excited to learn! So here goes: ‘Moning’ (MOHN-ing) members! You can also say ‘Moning tru’ (MOHN-ing troo) or ‘Moning nau’ (MOHN-ing now). Pidgin English is a mixture of English and local languages, enabling people who do not share a common language to communicate. It is widely spoken in Nigeria, Ghana, Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon. Interesting, eh? Thank you so
much, Ray, for the suggestion! We learnt something new!
Now that we’re all feeling a little more awake, it’s time to answer yesterday’s riddle! So, what was it again?
A man is looking at a picture of a man on the wall and states, ‘Brothers and sisters, I have none, but this man’s father is my father’s son.’ The question is, who is the person in the picture?
Did you get it? The man in the picture is the man's son! We know, we know, it's a bit confusing. But don't worry if you didn't get it, we'll explain. The man in the picture is the man's son because the phrase 'my father's son' pertains to the guy looking at the picture. Hence, the man in the picture is his son! We are also accepting that the man in the picture is himself. We hope that makes sense. If you managed to get the answer correct, head down to the bottom of the newsletter, where you'll find your well-deserved shoutout!
Next up, it's time for our 'What Would the Grandkids Say?' segment. Today, we're taking a look at the term 'lewk'! A lewk (look) is someone's very own personal signature style. If you wear a certain kind of something every day, that would be your 'lewk’. It can describe someone's outfit, hair, makeup, etc. It’s just a fancy way of saying ‘look’. For example, you might say, 'Wow, you've really got a great lewk going on today!' or 'I love your lewk!' So, next time you see your grandkids looking extra sharp, tell them they've got a great lewk!
Oh, and one more thing before we get into the news, check out today’s ALDI Special Buys! There are a bunch of goodies here, so don’t forget to browse them!
