Rainbow Room Drop-Off Event
Thank you to all who adopted a child through Rainbow Room this holiday season. All names have been distributed and the request form is now closed. We will host a come-and-go drop off event on Friday, Dec. 9 in Brazos B&C from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. where you can turn in gifts, enjoy Christmas music and grab a cup of hot cocoa. Speaker Series: Advent
Please join us virtually on Wednesday, Nov. 30 from noon to 1 p.m. as we learn more about Advent. Observed by Christians, Advent is the period of preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ at Christmas and the expected return of Christ in the Second Coming. Successful Magnet Thanks and Giving Drive
Thank you to everyone who donated items to the Magnet Thanks and Giving drive. Thousands of items were donated and as you can see in the photo below, it packed an entire pickup truck! Your donations will help Moving Waters continue their mission of providing showers to people experiencing homelessness in the Houston area. Thank you for your generous hearts this season!
New ERG: Fathers in Health Care
The Office of DEI is excited to announce the creation of the Fathers in Health Care employee resource group (ERG). The 9th Houston Methodist ERG, Fathers in Health Care’s mission is to, “bring together fathers and father figures across Houston Methodist for the purpose of supporting working fathers and to share ideas and experiences.” Read more about it in the DEI Corner, available each week at the bottom of the newsletter.

The Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) is facilitating roundtable discussions on anti-racism and anti-bias that will be open to all Houston Methodist employees and leaders. These conversations were developed from your feedback we received in DEI focus groups held earlier this year. These sessions for HMSL will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 7. Convenience Corner: Family Photo Day Highlights
Close to 90 staff members got to capture special memories with loved ones at the inaugural HMSL Family Photo Day on Saturday, Nov. 12. The HMSL Convenience Perks Team partnered with local photographer, Kelley Sweet, to offer this fun deal for our staff. Endoscopy Patient: "Every staff member treated me with respect and compassion. I especially would like to mention Beatriz, the PCA, and Kerry, my pre-procedure nurse for their kindness and friendliness. Also, having Elsa as my CRNA gave me great confidence that I would receive excellent care."
Outpatient PT/OT Patient: "Mark and Michael have been great. Very Educational. They have built trust through knowledge, but most importantly seem to have their heart or found their purpose in helping others. I would definitely say how well they do their job motivates me to do my part in my recovery process."
