Saturday Edition
Good morning members, and happy Saturday! Before we get into things today we just wanted to say, we've always wanted our little newsletter and website to be an escape from the real world, a place where we can all relax and have a bit of fun. However, with the current events unfolding around the world we just want to say to our members who are both of Ukrainian and/or Russian descent, that we stand with you. We hope you and your families, whether they are in Australia or not, are safe and okay. We are so blessed to live in Australia and we want you to know that if you need anything, even if it's just someone to talk to. We are here.
Now, let's return to our regularly scheduled Saturday programming, starting off with the answer to yesterday's riddle. Here’s a quick refresher on exactly what that was!
Say my name and I disappear. What am I?
My oh my, you guys absolutely nailed this one. The answer to this one is of course silence! Either we are terrible at riddles or you lot are absolutely brilliant at them (we sense it might be a combination of the two). Well, as promised, for those who answered correctly, you have a shoutout waiting for you down below! Enjoy it folks, you earned it.
Now for the next segment of our Saturday schedule, we have our ‘What Would the Grandkids Say?’ segment.
This one is a little bit flirty and fun! So, let's say you are scrolling through social media, such as Instagram, Facebook or everyones favourite: The Seniors Discount Club Forum, and you spot someone you think is really cool, attractive and funny. Since you can’t talk to them face to face, you send them a message! What you have just done members, is ‘slide into the DMs’. A DM is short for ‘direct message’ and to slide into someone's direct messages is a cheeky way of saying you have casually and flirtatiously started messaging them. Now we love our community here at the SDC and we very much encourage everyone to get along and chat! But if someone doesn’t seem too keen on your communication, it’s best to give them their space and back off. That being said,
sliding into the DM’s of someone you find attractive is common practice among the young generation, and a modern way of striking up a conversation and showing interest in someone. So as long as you’re respectful, calm and willing to back off when someone hints to it, get sliding into some DM’s folks! You never know who you might meet!
Oh one more thing before we get into the news, check out today’s Aldi Special Buys! There are a bunch of goodies here folks.
So then, what’s happening in Australia and around the world today?

But wait, we have more in store for you, including an absolute cracker of a joke, courtesy of member @wazzalox, and a super cute picture of the day by @Jacidity1. Thanks so much for sending these in. Oh and don’t forget to enter our latest competition, the SDC Product Review Comp, for your chance to win a $100 voucher to Coles, Woolworths, Aldi, or

Who remembers this refreshing drink? It was the first chilled juice sold in the country, and instead of the not so great taste of canned orange juice, it tasted like freshly squeezed juice. And it came with the pulp!

Nothing says summer like open windows and catching a cool breeze. But nothing is more frustrating than flies bringing germs and diseases into your home. This is why window and door screens are essential during the summer months. The mesh on screen doors acts as a giant air filter, blocking airborne creatures from entering your home. As a result, these screens collect a lot of dust, pollen, dirt, and insects, obstructing your view and potentially affecting the air quality filtered throughout your home. Not to mention, the accumulated dust and grime makes cleaning the screens difficult.
However, a mother of two has discovered a surprising way to remove dust and dirt from her fly screen in minutes. After several failed attempts with other more expensive purchases, Facebook user Leah shared the miracle $7 product that completely transformed her old, dusty fly screen door to like-new condition.

K’gari (Fraser Island) lies just off the east coast of Australia. At 122 km long, it is the largest sand island in the world. Majestic remnants of tall rainforest growing on sand and half the world’s perched freshwater dune lakes are found inland from the beach. The combination of shifting sand-dunes, tropical rainforests, and lakes makes it an exceptional site.
