July at
LGBT Foundation

Hi to our wonderful LGBTQ+ communities and allies, we hope you had a happy International Pride Month, feeling loved, celebrated and supported by people all around the world! We've loved meeting so many of you at local Prides, so if you're new here - welcome!

Spreading queer hope and joy has never been more important, so throughout June our This is What a Woman Looks Like billboards have been spotted up and down the country, and we officially launched our Rainbow Arts Trail and 50 Years of Queer Hope & Joy Exhibition! If you're in Manchester this summer and spot one of our campaigns, tag us @lgbtfdn and #LGBTFoundation50 for the chance to win some exclusive merch.

Not in Manchester? No problem - we're so excited to announce the debut of our partnership with Google Arts & Culture, where you can explore the history of LGBT Foundation and Manchester's vibrant queer scene through our Archives.

Of course, Pride is not just for a season but year-round. Whatever you can do to amplify LGBTQ+ voices and causes in your own communities will help protect queer rights for the next generation - read on for more action items below.

Community Highlight: Ultra Hikers Fundraiser

We're celebrating the amazing challenges taken on by our supporters!

Our Charity Challenge programme provides everything you need to harness your passions, engage your community, and make real impacts on LGBTQ+ lives.

In June, some of our courageous supporters challenged themselves to their biggest feat yet: a 100km hike with over 2,500m of ascent through the Lake District. This journey took over 24 hours to complete, with minimal stops for rest and nearly no sleep!

The team of four (Laura, Dean, Simon Garry, and Barney Hepburn) bravely took on this incredible Ultra Challenge as they felt the services provided at LGBT Foundation were well worth it.

Reflecting on the experience, our challengers shared:

"It was fantastic – we finished in 26 hours, under the worst conditions the company running the event had ever seen. Storms, floods, freezing temperatures then pockets of heat…we had it all! But, we enjoyed every second and had the fantastic charity in mind the entire time. It has been an honour to support you and the incredible cause".

Learn more about their journey and boost their fundraising total by visiting their JustGiving page.

Whether you're looking to follow in their footsteps, or take on a new challenge of your own, you can download our FREE fundraising pack to get inspiration and help us continue to spread queer hope and joy!

Take on your own Charity Challenge today ❤️

Our Community Café, safe spaces and lifeline services can't continue without your support - please consider pledging £1 - £2 a day to help us protect LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing for 50 more years 🩷
