Reimagining Australia's international relations.A platform for collaboration between the development, diplomacy and defence communities.Year in reviewIt's been a busy year for AP4D with papers published and events held across three programs:
Continuing to engage with policy debates, AP4D made submissions to the Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040 and International Gender Equality Strategy, in addition to contributions to Joint Standing Committee inquiries into fisheries treaties and supporting regional democracy. This was complemented by dozens of speaking engagements and published articles, ensuring AP4D's contribution to public debate remains strong. The need to respect, resource and coordinate Australia's tools of statecraft continues to be reflected in key policy documents - including the Defence Strategic Review and International Development Policy - as well as in key ministerial speeches. As the year draws to a close, our sincere thanks go out to our supportive funding partners, our esteemed Advisory Group, our wonderful working group contributors and editors, and everyone who has given the benefit of their guidance and advice. We wish you all a safe and relaxing holiday period and a happy New Year. Our peopleThe AP4D Advisory Group is co-chaired by Marc Purcell and Michael Wesley. Our programOn 5 December AP4D was delighted to reconnect with more than 20 Timorese civil society representatives who contributed to a recent AP4D paper on how Australia and Timor-Leste can shape a shared future, in addition to working group contributors and staff from the Australian Embassy in Dili. A huge thank you to Héctor Salazar Salame and The Asia Foundation Timor-Leste team for hosting the event, and to the Australian Civil-Military Centre for their ongoing support.
