CDU Alumni E-News February 2022 issue CDU celebrates the return of International StudentsCharles Darwin University is set to welcome more than 130 new international students over the coming weeks to the Northern Territory before Semester 1 commences in early March. The new and returning international students landing in the Territory are from a variety of countries and regions, such as India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, China, Canada, and the UK. There will be more students arriving over the coming months ahead of Semester 2 in August.

CDU announces new scholarship fund for Ukrainian studentsCharles Darwin University is supporting the people of Ukraine, announcing a new scholarship fund, in a first for the higher education sector in Australia. The CDU Ukrainian Assistance Scholarship will support Ukrainian humanitarian entrants to Australia, offering education scholarships to support their tuition fees, books and living expenses. CDU has launched a staff fundraising campaign where the University will match dollar-for-dollar whatever is raised from staff. The fund is also open to business, government and community in the Northern Territory, Australia and internationally, for anyone looking to support a student’s education.
New training centre to support aged care workforce opensCharles Darwin University is boosting training for the next generation of aged care workers with the construction of its new Training Centre for Aged Care at CDU’s Casuarina campus now complete. The centre, which opens for students from semester one this year, will deliver a unique training environment with room for four aged care beds and equipment that will mimic an aged care facility to aid student learning for up to 24 students at a time.
CDU welcomes Professor Fiona Coulson as new Pro Vice-Chancellor (Educational Strategy)A new Pro Vice-Chancellor has been appointed to the role of Education Strategy at Charles Darwin University to provide expert knowledge to help CDU shape the direction of its educational strategy, growth agenda and course offerings. CDU Vice-Chancellor Professor Scott Bowman said Professor Coulson would be an asset to the CDU community and the Territory.
New cohort of First Nations students ready to step into higher educationA new cohort of First Nations students have graduated from enabling programs in business, accounting and law disciplines at Charles Darwin University and are ready to begin their studies in Semester 1. The month-long programs at the CDU Asia Pacific College of Business and Law prepare students for the academic environment at university and offer ongoing mentoring support as students enter higher education or VET studies
CDU to offer Master of PharmacyCDU aims to offer a two-year Master of Pharmacy course on a graduate entry basis for students who hold a degree in health sciences, subject to approval by the Australian Pharmacy Council (APC). The course is slated to commence in 2023 with an initial intake of 30 students.

CDU graduates top two in Australia for employer satisfactionCharles Darwin University (CDU) graduates have come in the top two in Australia in meeting employer needs, according to a national survey by the Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT). QILT’s Employer Satisfaction Survey is an annual national survey that measures how well graduates from Australian higher education institutions meet employer needs.
Vale Neil Balnaves AOThe Charles Darwin University community was saddened to learn of the tragic passing of one of its influential leaders, former Chancellor Mr Neil Balnaves AO. CDU Chancellor, the Hon Paul Henderson AO and Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Scott Bowman AO, paid tribute to the man who "positively transformed CDU through his extensive experience in corporate affairs, the media industry and through his significant philanthropic activities."
