Partner Spotlight: Eztek
Eztek in its 30 years of being associated with the energy industry prides itself of being part of many hazardous area integrated solutions globally. They often have a focus on control systems which form part of a larger project.
When Eztek is approached to supply a solution for control or data acquisition, its in-house design and software team start with understanding what the end result needs to be, not what they have that might fit. This is a winning approach to get faster results.
Eztek started life with its offshore engineer thinking that they could improve on what was available from a standalone perspective, leading to Eztek designing its first surface correlation system and perforating panel, with later versions still being widely used today.
Rapidly moving on, this expanded to DTS loggers for wireline along with surface data acquisition systems so that the industry could move closer to digital capture in hazardous areas without compromise.
In more recent years that thought process was used for hazardous area communication and CCTV systems and now forms part of Eztek's portfolio.

Reminder: Forward outlook stakeholder feedback survey
CODA is developing a suite of online dashboards designed to provide a comprehensive view of Australia’s upcoming offshore oil and gas decommissioning workload.
This set of interactive tools - known as the Forward Outlook - will enhance the visibility of upcoming work by providing users seamless access to industry data in a single, easy-to-use interface. By streamlining data into one platform, the Forward Outlook aims to improve decommissioning planning and operational efficiency while supporting local industry development.
We are aiming to release the Forward Outlook by the end of Q1 2024.

Northern Endeavour decommissioning recycling and disposal: request for information
The Department of Industry Science and Resources has released a request for information (RFI) for the Northern Endeavour. The RFI is seeking to identify options for recycling of the floating, production, storage and offtake (FPSO) vessel.
The RFI is available on the AusTender website - reference number 028 - OG - 2023/24.
The department is inviting responses from interested suppliers and experts on options for FPSO:
- towing
- decontaminating
- dismantling
- recycling.
The closing date for submissions is 4 March 2024.

D&A AUS 2024

Australia’s Biggest Decommissioning and Abandonment Summit returns in partnership with CODA.
Join us at the biggest-ever D&A conference spanning 3 days. This year’s conference will include 8 sessions covering Offshore Planning, Regulations & Environmental Impact, Onshore Decommissioning & Onshore Dismantling of Offshore Structures, and Offshore Well P&A.
NDRI (National Decommissioning Research Initiative) update
The NDRI continues to do important research to better understand the impacts of decommissioning oil and gas structures on the Australian marine environment.
NDRI supporting Honours Student reserach undertaken with ANSTO
National Decommissioning Research Initiative (NDRI) are delighted to support Honours Student research being undertaken with the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) New South Wales this year.
An NDRI scholarship grant will be used to support two Honours students to undertake research projects that will explore some of the key data gaps required for environmental risk assessments to support the decommissioning of offshore oil and gas infrastructure.
More specifically, these projects will focus on investigating the effects of exposure of Australian marine algae to external radiation sources from naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORMS) and mercury and selenium concentrations and chemical forms in commercially important Australian marine fish.
This groundbreaking work marks a significant step towards enhancing our understanding of the environmental implications of decommissioning processes. Congratulations to the students for their commitment to advancing knowledge in this critical field!
NDRI panel session at AOG Energy 2024
