Support the Partnership for MENA Aid
The devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria remind us that natural disasters ignore borders, ethnicity or race. This humanitarian catastrophe has led to the formation of an unlikely partnership to provide desperately needed assistance.
A diverse community of Americans, Israelis, Palestinians, Jordanians, Syrians, Turks, and Kurds, as well as people from Bahrain and the Emirates, with wide networks and skills, have come together to form the Partnership for MENA Aid.
Based on the common efforts of Israeli and Arab partners who have been working to build bridges across the region, launching a collective response to this kind of regional disaster was a natural impulse for those involved.
Sarah Aweidah, coordinator of this effort, and a Heart of a Nation Committee member, is encouraging others to join in: “This is a time when we need to work together; I am proud to help lead a team of partners and friends from around the region and beyond who are committed to helping those in need.”
A joint Israeli and Arab team is currently on the ground in Turkey, and items that have been donated by Israelis and Palestinians have been shipped to Syria. These volunteers need additional financial support to continue providing life-saving goods and services, including food, medical supplies, and emergency shelter.
This campaign is led by a steering committee of experienced aid workers and nonprofit leaders. They ensure that the funds collected are distributed efficiently, and used for their intended purposes, and have shown that they are able to manage a cross-border humanitarian effort involving diverse partners.
