In the early 1920s, León Theremin mesmerised audiences with what appeared to be ‘magic’. He stood before a radio-like contraption, and as his hands moved in patterns, beautiful tunes emerged! It looked like he was pulling music out of thin air. The instrument was later named the 'theremin' and hailed as the very first successful electronic musical instrument.
