Dear colleagues, I am delighted to welcome you to the latest edition of the AEC Newsletter. The AEC Council met in the Royal Conservatoire, The Hague, this month. With many new Council members to welcome, it was an opportunity to share our stories and build connections. We discussed many things, including the update of our Strategy, progress on the ARTEMIS Project, and the thriving Erasmus+ projects of our membership which you can read about in this Newsletter. We looked at continuing challenges for our members, such as the Ukraine War, the ongoing impact of the energy crisis and global economic challenges. ![]() AEC Council and Office Team members in The Hague The AEC Council also met with the Board of ELIA in Amsterdam and had a productive conversation about our goals, covering points for shared action in the future. We held an online ceremony to mark the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the South East Asian Directors of Music (SEADOM) represented by their President Shahanum Shah and Executive Director Joseph Bowman. ![]() Meeting of AEC and ELIA Boards in Amsterdam I am grateful to the Council for their dedication and preparation for these meetings. The European Performing Arts Students’ Association is inviting all interested students to join their inaugural conference in April! Find out more also about their upcoming elections. The kick-off meeting of the ECSA-AEC Mentorship Programme 2022-2023 took place on 21st March in Brussels, in the frame of ECSA’s Creators Conference 2023, with all mentors and mentees who met in person for the first time. From February 13 to 17, over 50 traditional music students and teachers from five European countries gathered in Rauland, Norway for the 3rd intensive week of the TUNE (Traditional Music Undergraduate Network in Europe) project. Help us collect data about technological & remote systems infrastructure, as well as experiences related to virtual/remote/cyber projects in music, in Higher Music Education Institutions in Europe. MusiQuE is currently coordinating and preparing several quality enhancement and accreditation procedures in The Netherlands, Kazakhstan, Belgium, Estonia, Singapore, Thailand and Spain and took part in various higher education quality assurance events around the world. Registrations are open for the RAPP Lab Multiplier event: "Reflect & React: How Artistic Research Empowers Musicians and Performing Artists at Higher Education Institutions", which will take place on 12 – 13 May in Cologne.
