Tuesday Edition
My, what a treat it is to see you all here today! Welcome to another Tuesday edition of our newsletter. Oh my goodness, we can't believe we're already nearing the end of the year! Christmas is in five days, and New Year's Eve will be here before we know it. I (Vella) can't help but feel emotional thinking about all that has happened this year. There have been so many changes and challenges but also so many blessings. I feel so grateful for my health, family, friends, and, of course, SDC family. I know not everyone has been as fortunate this year, so I am sending my love and light to all of you who have been struggling. I hope next year will be better for all of us.
In the meantime, let's enjoy the festive season and make the most of our time with our loved ones. This Christmas, I encourage you to reach out to someone you may have lost touch with and let them know you're thinking of them. A kind word or gesture can mean the world to someone, especially at this time of year. I'll be doing the same. 🙂
Now then, let's move on to today's newsletter. We’re feeling quite inspired and are looking forward to getting stuck into today’s news stories. Before we do that, though, we have to reveal the answer to yesterday’s riddle. Here’s a reminder of what the riddle was:
If December 31st is the end of the year, then what is the end of Christmas?
The answer is… The letter ‘s’! We thought this one would be pretty tricky, but it seems like a lot of you were able to figure it out. If you got the answer right, head to the bottom of the newsletter for your well-deserved shout-out.
Now then, what’s happening across Australia and the world today?

Today’s Yesterday’s Australia segment is thanks to member @Angel54. ‘Christmas 1996, my husband and I gave my mother a beautiful Christmas Card which she really loved. The next Christmas (1997), a gift from Mum was a Christmas Card in an envelope. I opened the envelope, and it was the same card we had given her the year before. She said she really loved this card, so she wrote a message on it and gave it to my husband and me. Mum was only 70 at this stage but had some difficulty with her vision. She thought the card was new and didn't see
that we had written on it the year before. We all had a good laugh about it, and every Christmas that followed, until her last Christmas in 2019, the same card was given either from Mum to us or from us to Mum. Each year all we did was write the year on it as the original messages said it all. ’ Read the rest of the story here.
Awww, this story made our day. It’s a reminder that you don’t need to spend a lot of money on gifts to make your loved ones happy. It is more than a physical item; it is about the thoughts and emotions connected to it. Thank you, @Angel54, for sharing this heartwarming story with us.

Berliner Dom
How stunning is this photo shared by @dragabagalong in our photography forum? They posted this photo along with the caption, ‘In all of Europe, or even the world in my humble opinion, the Berliner Dom is the most spectacular cathedral I have ever been inside of. It dates back to somewhere around the fourteen hundreds and was built, I believe, by the Prussians. The tower in the background is a TV tower
built by the Russians in an attempt to demonstrate to the western world its technological superiority. It was built during the Russian occupation of East Germany. The views from the top are spectacular.’
What a view! The Berliner Dom is an awe-inspiring sight to behold. It's no surprise that it’s one of Germany's most popular tourist destinations. Thank you for sharing this photo with us, @dragabaglong.
