Friday Edition
Good morning you lot, welcome to Friday here at the SDC! What are everyone's plans today? Staying in and trying out some hacks maybe? Or are you out nabbing some fantastic deals? Well as many of you know, we have plenty of each on our website so a trip over there is a good place to start! 😉
Now, as we do every Friday, it’s time to reveal the third and final riddle for the week! Take your time with this one folks, this one from member Dennis R. had us stumped!
I flop and swing around, on the floor or on some sticks, and I sometimes look as if I have no bones. I desperately need a white powder to do what needs to be done, and looking at me you might wonder why I look like I am about to go swimming. What am I?
Any ideas? We’re scratching our heads with a vengeance here ladies and gents. As always, if you have more luck than us and think you’ve got the answer, head over to the riddle masters thread here and submit your answer. The grand prize for a correct answer? A shoutout in tomorrow’s newsletter of course! Pretty much makes you SDC royalty eh?
One more thing before we dive into the news today is this week's Coles Best Buys. There are a few 'best buys' in our opinion, so be sure to check them out!
Now then, what's been happening in Australia and around the world today?
-
After making an alarming discovery, one mum has issued an urgent warning about the dangers of childrens' bath toys, so please keep an eye
on the grandkids!
-
McDonalds Australia has decided to change things up, by adding a new variety of McNuggets and sauce to their menu.

Money experts are warning consumers of the mystical “shrinking $5 note”. Keep an eye out for this one folks!
-
This is a good laugh. One man assigned $360 for his partner’s Valentines day gift, and took $1 off of the total every day he was yelled at. You won’t believe how much was left…
-
A mother's instinct is a powerful thing eh? One mum noticed a strange issue with her son’s reflection, which ended up saving his life!
-
One Woolies customer’s behaviour went viral after they were kicked out of the store. Wow members, this is really disrespectful behaviour on her part.
-
A great-grandmother has revealed the ultimate hack for stopping toddler tantrums and we think it’s brilliant.
-
A simple pub advertisement has sparked a debate for one specific reason... Can you guess what it is?
-
And finally, the cleaning queen is back with a trio of incredible life hacks that everyone should know!
Not a bad collection of news eh? Well we have plenty more in store that we would consider at least ‘not bad’ (hint, it's excellent)! For example, our (grand)dad joke of the day is an absolute giggle fest, brought to you by the wonderful member @Thomas. Thanks for this one, we were having a good laugh here at the SDC HQ.
Now, as you may not be aware, we have started a brand new competition! Woo hoo! This is the SDC Product Review Competition! All you have to do to enter is head over here, choose a product from Coles, Woolies, ALDI or IGA you love and would like to review, and submit around 100 words about the product including it’s price and why you love it so much! Compare Health Cover Now*
Three health insurance rate rises in the space of 18 months are what Aussies are being slapped with after a two year long global pandemic. Aussies were paying an average of $230.26 more for their health insurance after the 2021 price hikes. And now from 1 April 2022, a single person over the age of 65 will pay an additional average of about $75* more per year, with families paying an additional average of about $154* more per year.
What few people realise is that there are government rebates out there that could save you hundreds of dollars per year on your cover*. For eligible Aussies, the starting cost of a combined hospital & extras policy comes in at under $23 / week (or $3.22 per day) once the rebate has been claimed.
See if you're eligible for the latest government rebates to get health insurance from under $23 a week.

I’m driving down the road and I spot police behind me, so I speed up, and they put on their flashing lights.
I speed up more, and they speed up with lights flashing and now siren blaring. I speed up a bit more then they overtake me and block me.
"Didn't you see us behind you?" says one policeman.
Oooh, this is a good one. Click here to read the rest of this hilarious joke by member @Thomas.
