Webinar: Faculty of Education |
"I have a lot to thank Manchester Metropolitan University for, as they recognised my international teaching experience and helped me get my work recognised in local newspapers. Through studying at Manchester Metropolitan University, I studied and taught in Hong Kong SAR and had experience teaching in France. Most importantly, I was taught to put my passion for teaching into practice."

New project: READ.COM
Dr Julie Scanlon and Dr Sarah McNicol, from the School of Childhood Youth and Education Studies are currently collaborating with partners from Spain, Italy, Portugal and Greece on a 3-year EU funded research project, READ.COM.
Each partner taking part in the READ.COM project is examining children’s reading habits both at home and in school, and teachers’ practice in relation to teaching reading skills and promoting reading for pleasure. There is an emphasis on those children whose home language is different to that spoken in each country’s school system.
The overall objective of the project is the creation of educational tools, for use by educators and families, to promote and support reading. This will include an educational app and a toolkit aimed at improving reading comprehension and enjoyment in children aged 3-12 years.
