Friday Edition
Welcome to another fabulous Friday, members! How are we all on this beautiful morning? It’s finally summer and we love summer here at the SDC! Celebrations, beach trips, Christmas... There's just so much to enjoy. Do you have any big plans for the festive season this year? Mine (Vella) are to eat good food (yes, that's a big plan for me), relax, and, of course, spend time with my loved ones.
As I get older, I realise that celebrations like Christmas are more about quality time spent with those you love rather than material things. That's not to say I don't enjoy presents (because I love them), but it's not the be-all and end-all for me anymore. The biggest gift really is the people you surround yourself with.
Okay, enough of my sentimental Christmas ramblings! Let's get into today's newsletter, shall we? We've actually got a fair bit to get through today, so let's get started.
As always, we'll start with the third and final riddle for the week. This one is brought to us by member Dennis R. Thanks for this great riddle, Dennis!
Open me every day for something that can’t be beat. Behind all the doors, you will discover a tasty treat. What am I?
This is a good one! How are you all going with it? If you think you've got the answer, head over to the riddle masters thread here. If you get the answer correct, we will give you a shout-out in tomorrow's newsletter!

Today’s ‘Yesterday’s Australia’ segment is a lovely memory from member @Bunny62. ‘My favourite Christmas memory was in 1998 when my now partner of 24 years and myself happened to be at the same party. After chatting most of the evening, I knew something was in the air. But him being him, had no idea about the ways of women and didn’t know if he had any chance of having a date or if I even liked him, so at midnight he kissed me and said “Merry Christmas Kate” and my knees went weak. I responded, “Do you mind if I have another one?” And
well, 24 years later, here we are.’
Ah, we love, love! What a beautiful love story. It shows that Christmas is a time for new beginnings and that sometimes the best gifts come in the form of serendipity and a first kiss. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous story with us, @Bunny62.
