We didn’t expect to be back in touch so soon after our last update, but we’re thrilled to share some exciting news — construction has officially begun on the first site, starting at Toro Road and heading toward the first dog trials site. To mark this milestone, a small blessing ceremony was held on-site on t Monday. It was attended by local residents who have long advocated for these improvements, alongside council staff, iwi and hapū representatives, and our contractors. It was also great to have New Plymouth District Mayor-elect Max Brough, newly elected Councillor John Woodward and retiring Councillor for the Kohanga Mōa ward, Marie Pearce. Fulton Hogan is leading the works, and weather permitting. this section is expected to be completed before Christmas. What to expect on the roadTo keep everyone safe during construction, traffic management will be in place:
The contractor will monitor conditions and adjust as needed to minimise delays. However, please allow extra time for your journey and expect some hold-ups. If you need assistance while travelling through the area, don’t hesitate to speak with the onsite staff — they’re there to help. Thank you for your patience and support as we move forward with this long-awaited project.
Update on other projectsSite 2 (Pukeho – Toro Road) and Site 3 (Tarata Saddle) went out for construction tender this week, so we are still hoping for a January 2026 construction start. Any questions or concerns please send me an email me on liz.beck@npdc.govt.nz or phone 06-759 6060. Ngā mihi |
