NEWS UPDATE

24 July 2026

Publishers note

Our industry and its people are continuously at it. This week, we bring you another diverse range of stories, many from here at home and others from further afield.

For those unfamiliar with the Australian Commercial Marine Conference, I do suggest having a look at the event and considering whether this sector may be of interest to your business. Now in its third year, the conference will take place next Wednesday, 29 July, in Sydney. It will be held aboard the M/V Starship at Darling Harbour, so spaces are limited. However, on checking today, a small number of places remain for those who can make it.

BLA has just concluded its three-day Trade Show, commonly known as BLATS, at The Star in Brisbane. Representing 70 industry-leading brands, including a handful of new additions to the BLA family, the event has been dubbed a resounding success and possibly its best yet.

A month or so ago, we shared the news of The Voyage, a docu-commercial short film designed to share the journey from concept to market of Dometic Marine’s gyro stabilisation range. This week, we bring you the second instalment of that story, which delves into the people behind the journey. It is certainly a good read and well worth your time.

In other news, BIAV has announced the Murray River Boat Show for 2027, we introduce you to Ella - another of our industry’s emerging leaders, and look at how an iconic Formula 1 team is dabbling in the marine industry, plus a whole lot more.

We do hope you enjoy this week’s news.
