NEWS UPDATE

26 September 2025

Publishers note

Our congratulations to NZ Marine industry stalwart Peter Busfield, who has announced he will step down in March next year. While there is still time before his departure, the announcement provides an opportunity to acknowledge the extraordinary contribution Peter has made to the industry. His legacy and influence will no doubt remain strong, as will his ongoing presence in a sector to which he has given so much.

On the marina front, two significant developments. Marine Structures has successfully completed the world-class upgrade of Coffs Harbour Marina, delivering a facility that raises the standard for regional marinas in New South Wales. Meanwhile, d’Albora has announced the rebranding of Horizon Shores Marina to Pacific Point Marina & Boatyard. This follows a substantial investment and marks the completion of stage one of a redevelopment.

Spring has also brought a renewed wave of boating activity. With school holidays already underway in some states and about to begin in others, Marine Rescue NSW has issued a timely reminder for boaters to make safety a top priority. It’s good advice that applies to all of us.

This week, we also had the pleasure of catching up with Sam and Natalie from Shoreside for a conversation about their journey and business. In other people news, we extend a warm welcome to Mark Girard, newly appointed CEO of Invest Gold Coast, an organisation that has long supported the marine industry.

We do hope you enjoy this week’s news.
