Good morning

Hello there, members! Happy final Saturday of 2023! Can you believe it? We are in the last weekend of the year and I’m quite shocked if I’m honest. I know everyone says it, but I truly feel like this year just flew by at the blink of an eye. So much happened, good and bad, but what I cannot wrap my head around is that it is over! But I guess I better get over it, because 2024 is just 2 days away!

I thought it would be nice today if we all took a moment to share something we’re grateful for this year. I know with every year, there are ups and downs, but I’d love to know just one thing you’re grateful for if you’re okay with sharing it. I’ll go first! This year I am grateful for all the new friends I have made. Believe it or not, I’m quite a shy introvert so I have always struggled to make friends, especially in adulthood, but this year has been different. I have put myself out of my comfort zone multiple times so I have been forced to make connections and form new friendships. This year, I brought so many incredible people into my life and I feel truly blessed to be surrounded by each and every one of them. I am so grateful to each and every one of my friends and all that they teach me on a daily basis – including each and everyone of you. So, thank you for helping me grow and for making my 2023 wonderful! If you’d like to share what you’re grateful for this year, I encourage you to do so on our forum here!

Now that’s enough from me, what’s happening across Australia and around the world today?

A true Christmas miracle

This Christmas memory almost brought me to tears. Thank you so much for sharing this with us all, member @Loubeauxarts. ‘My last Christmas in England was in 1963, I was 10 years old and we were as poor as church mice. A strike by the Post Office had, not an isolated event, brought the country to a standstill. Mum and dad had ordered their Christmas presents from a mail order company but it didn't seem that anything would arrive before Christmas. On Christmas morning the strike was averted and staff from the Royal Mail worked right through that Christmas period to get things through. At 6am the doorbell rang and all of the packages arrived. I still remember mum and dad crying and hugging each other as the parcels were unloaded…’ The memory doesn’t end here, to read the rest of this beautiful memory click here. Polar bear in Svalbard

When I saw this photograph on our forum I got so excited! I have never seen a polar bear up close and personal. I have only ever had the opportunity to admire their beauty through documentaries and in magazine photos. I cannot believe one of our members got this up close and personal with one and managed to capture a photo of it. You lucky duck, member @Chippindall! Thank you so much for sharing this magical photo with us all. If you’d like to share your own photograph, don’t be shy and post it here!

Don’t tell me you thought it was anywhere other than Australia! That’s right, us Aussies invented the dessert White Christmas.
