Hi Friend,
You're in the second trimester, past the early rough stretch, and this part was supposed to feel a little easier. Instead your low back and hips have their own opinion, especially by the end of the day.
And everyone keeps telling you it's normal, so you should just wait it out. Here's the thing they leave out: common and unavoidable aren't the same word. Yes, this is common. No, you don't have to be this uncomfortable through all of it.
- Your body is shifting fast, and your hips are trying to keep up
Your center of gravity is moving forward a little more every week, and the ligaments around your pelvis are softening to make room. That's a lot of change in a short time, and the low back and hips usually feel it first.
Try this: When you stand, stack yourself gently instead of leaning back to counter the belly. Soften your knees, let your ribs settle over your hips, and notice how much that quiets the low back.
- Pelvic balance is the whole comfort conversation right now
When one side of the pelvis sits and moves a little differently than the other, everything around it works harder. That's often what's behind the ache that shows up on one side more than the other.
Try this: Notice how you sit. If you're always tucked onto one hip or crossing the same leg, switch it up and sit evenly with both feet down. Small, but your pelvis feels it.
- Gentle motion beats waiting it out
Rest has its place, but pelvises and low backs like to move. Holding still all day usually lets things get stiffer, not looser.
Try this: A few slow cat-cow rounds on your hands and knees can take pressure off the low back and give the baby room to settle. Move only as far as feels good, and breathe through it.
