A message from the Chief Executive Hi Colleagues! Wow - are you like the EdSA Team, waking up and wondering how we got to Week 8 so fast? This term of learning and teaching seems to just have sailed on by, as you have all been striving to create powerful Association learning communities with and for your Members. It's a great time to reflect on everything you have achieved this term so far, and to start thinking strategically about what the next most important thing to do might be. Here at EdSA this term, we have been excited to be connecting with you our Members in so many different ways. From our kick-off gathering in week zero, to the seven Association Professional Learning events and our Term 1 Advisory Council Meeting...it has been a joy to get to know your 2025 Board/Committee reps and to have the chance to get to know each other both as people and as professionals. We look forward to continuing that journey in the second quarter of our learning year! There is a lot to check out in this Newsletter, so kick back with your favourite drink and remember to reach out to your EdSA support team if we can help in any way! Lisa-Jane Educators SA Events

Association Learning Programme! Have you registered? Are you ready to connect, learn, and lead this April? Join us for an exciting lineup of professional learning events designed for association leaders and educators across SA. There are two learning conversations available:
New for 2025 – Parent Network Sessions EdSA has created some new partnerships for 2025 as we seek to establish a statewide parent network that supports families to best support you as their child's educator and site leader. This new initiative leads off this term with two sessions.
Both sessions are already well-subscribed and will provide a fantastic opportunity for us to promote everything associations are doing to support educators to be the best they can be.
PL Grants for Associations! Many thanks to everyone who applied for PL Grants in one of the two categories this year - Strategic Projects and Online learning. So many exciting ideas and learning opportunities! The panels met last week and are just finishing advising all applicants of the outcomes. Well done to everyone - we can't wait to see where your learning adventures will take you! Wow, it has been a busy time in our Professional Learning World! Thanks to everyone who has been engaging with our Term 1 "Association Professional Learning Programme". We've been learning together about a broad range of topics including EdSA Gateway, Governance, Financial Fundamentals, and Creating powerful websites. Next week we have our final session for the term "Using Social Media in Associations". "Rough" Recordings of these completed sessions have been uploaded to our Member section, so please check them out and reach out if you want to chat more! You can find them at https://educators-sa.sa.edu.au/committee-board/professional-learning-hub, remember to enter your Member login details which are: Username:edumember To enrol for next week's "Social Media" session click the button below. The great thing about these sessions is that they have been targeted to meet the needs of different Board/Committee Members. As a result our EdSA team has had a fantastic opportunity to meet even more of the educators who make up and drive your Association - what an amazing community we have! Association News
Member Advantage is out there and happening!
Have you distributed your QR code to your Members? Congratulations to Kate at PDA, who this week had all her Members scrambling to access the QR code as a part of their AGM! A great promotion for PDA of this member benefit, and one which provides an opportunity for Members to save a lot of money! Well done to Kate and her Association for actively getting the information to their Members.
Association friends – the time is near! We have been chatting and learning together for the last eighteen months to get us all up to speed on the changes surrounding the ATO’s requirements as part of the NFP Self Review Return. This week we have sent an individual email to all Associations with an update on where we think you are at, with some additional information for those who are part of our EdSA ACNC Bundle and our EdSA Tax Bundle. Remember, no matter which pathway you are on, there are three critical aspects for EVERY Association to have completed by the 31st March 2025 as part of your self-review.
Check out the flowchart from the ATO for more info: https://www.ato.gov.au/businesses-and-organisations/not-for-profit-organisations/statements-and-returns/reporting-requirements-to-self-assess-income-tax-exemption/how-to-lodge-the-nfp-self-review-return#ato-Lodgeonline Remember to reach out to our EdSA Team if we can help in anyway.
DID YOU KNOW? If you intend to serve alcohol as a part of your meeting or event at the EDC, you will be asked to obtain a short-term liquor licence. If you have done this before you may notice the process has changed slightly and you will now need to advise the City of Charles Sturt Council of your “event” as well (big or small!) Reach out to Educators SA if you need support through this process. Education News
RECRUITED Teaching Expo Educators SA is pleased and proud to be participating in the upcoming Dept "RecruitEd Expo". It is going to be a fantastic day where pre-service educators can really dig deep into what it means to transition into this next start of their teaching career. Great sessions, great booths and much more. Make sure you promote it to your pre-service Members! At our EdSA Booth, we would love to be able to offer some prizes. If you would like to promote your Association by offering a free ticket to an event, free membership or some other kind of marketing collateral, please let us know by emailing Jaime at office@edsa.sa.edu.au no later than Friday 4th April. We can't wait to get there and start promoting the amazing role your Associations play in nurturing and supporting our pre-service and early career educators! Empowering Educators to Thrive On Friday 7th March 2025, Educators SA were invited to continue their active leadership role within the Department's "Empowering Educators to Thrive Project" and participate in the first of two Co-designing Solutions workshops for 2025.
