We are excited to let you know that orders are now open for resources to support our new campaign - Kia Whakarite: Be prepared. Advance care planning calendar campaign - coming soon!Kia ora e te whānau, We are excited to let you know that orders are now open for resources to support our new campaign – Kia Whakarite: Be prepared. Advance care planning is the process of thinking about, talking about and planning for future health care and end of life care. This campaign aims to bring advance care planning to the attention of those who are less likely to know about it, but to whom it could be particularly important. We have been working with young people, sports people, farmers and those working in risky professions, to talk about the importance of sharing what matters to them in their future healthcare. We are suggesting people be prepared if everything turns to custard (for example, if they have an accident and need medical attention). We are promoting advance care planning as "A Custard Plan." The campaign will be based around a series of free, large (A2), calendar-style posters featuring amazing New Zealanders who have talked with us about their thoughts on advance care planning. Each poster will be accompanied by a story on our website and a social media campaign, along with our hashtags, #KiaWhakariteBePrepared and #ACustardPlan. Order your calendars nowThe posters are designed to be hung in public spaces (waiting areas, reception areas and club rooms), in health facilities and out in the community. They will be sent out quarterly in batches of two and three. The first pack will contain posters for March and April. Our first mail out will be a test to see how things go and what we can do to make things better. Please fill in the order form linked below and let us know how many packs of the first two posters you would like. Order your free posters NOW! (Calendar poster order form) Please forward this email on to anyone else you think would be interested in the posters (for example, gyms, sporting or youth organisations). As a sneak preview, here are a couple of photos of some of the amazing people involved. Thomas MitchellThomas is a cattle farmer who runs his own stock business. With a young family he is conscious he is the breadwinner for his household. Given farming can be a dangerous business, he is keen to put together an advance care plan so they can be prepared should he have a serious injury or illness.
Vini Carmel AhkuoiVini Carmel is a 19 year old student who moved to New Zealand from Samoa to study a Bachelor of Nursing Pacific. She is passionate about offering guidance to young people who need help and support. She sees advance care planning as advocating for people who can't speak for themselves, particularly those with different ethnic backgrounds, sets of values and beliefs.
