NEWS UPDATE23 February 2024 Publishers noteThis week has been particularly busy for me having attended the Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME) in Melbourne. Many of you will know I still have a strong interest in the delivery of successful Face-2-Face events, and this show brings together a large contingent of industry to look at the future of Business Events. Apart from a jam-packed show floor, the Industry Leaders Forum and accompanying knowledge sessions shed light on changing trends and industry challenges. Notably, high on the agenda was attracting and keeping young talent, advocacy, and sustainability. With our industry shows about to kick off, it is subjects like these that will need additional attention as our shows evolve and grow into the future. Last week I was invited to attend an event at ICC Sydney titled ‘Respect’. The ICC Team say that “Respect is part of ICC Sydney's DNA – it underpins our team culture, the way we deliver events for our clients, interact with our producers, suppliers and community partners and how we respect our environment.” Both events demonstrated a clear evolution across where business is heading. I was pleased to have the opportunity during the ICC event to meet and chat with Johan Hasser and his team from Sanctuary Cove as well as BIA CEO Andrew Scott who were also guests. It was positive to see representation from our industry and a true interest in how and what is being done in this area.
