The program is a targeted, competitive single round grant, established to enhance positive animal welfare outcomes by supporting projects that seek to maximise the number of animals successfully rehomed at the conclusion of their use in research. It is aimed at eligible animal rehoming organisations. Applications close at midday on Friday 13 September 2024. ![]() The program is part of the NSW Government’s continuing commitment to protect the welfare of animals used in research through a coordinated and cooperative approach to achieve an appropriate outcome for animals at the end of their use in research. Previous Animal Research Review Panel webinars and seminars are available for viewing on the Animal Ethics Infolink website ![]() NSW Animal Use in Research Statistics ReportThe 2022 NSW animal use in research statistics report has been published on the Animal Ethics Infolink website. In addition to the annual data reporting, the report includes the results of a survey carried out by NSW Department of Primary Industries in 2023 on cats and dogs kept at research establishments for the reporting years 2019 - 2022. Animal Research Review Panel housing guidelines review project updateThe Animal Research Review Panel (ARRP) are currently reviewing their guidelines on housing of animals in scientific institutions. Updates on the review of these guidelines will be provided over the coming months. Comments on the current ARRP Housing Guidelines can be provided to the NSW Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development Animal Welfare team. Any comments received with accompanying scientific evidence will be considered as part of the review.
