MARINE BUSINESS NEWS

NEWS UPDATE

12 May 2023

Publishers note

I would suggest that if anyone is planning to attend next week’s Nautilus Marine Insurance Marina of the Year Awards Gala Dinner at the CYC, and you haven’t got your tickets yet, then today is the last chance to do so. These evenings are a celebration of our industry's success, and as well as being proud of our own achievements, we should also celebrate with our peers who may be award winners on the night. Well done to the MIA crew for bringing this special event to our industry each year.

Sanctuary Cove is again in the news. Apart from announcements about more product launches at the event, the team at Sanctuary Cove will continue the tradition of offering visitors something special with their Blues on Broadbeach (BoB) 2023, taking place across four days from May 18 to 21 and Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS), May 25-28, have been two of the Gold Coast’s most celebrated and highly anticipated events for decades.

As someone who can proudly call Sydney Harbour part of my “back yard” I was pleased to hear that the Minister for the Environment and Water, the Hon. Tanya Plibersek MP, announced that $45.2 million of funding will be provided to the Harbour Trust to keep our extraordinary places on Sydney Harbour safe and accessible for all Australians and future generations. I was particularly happy to see the investment being made for Cockatoo Island.  It is a fabulous place with amazing history. If you have never visited, do yourself a favour and put it on your to do list.
