Exploring Objects

Sensorial materials refine the child’s perceptions. Exploring objects defines the tactile sense by recognizing texture such as smooth or rough; thermic qualities like cool and warm; and baric qualities such as weight or pressure.

Working with Tools

Practical Life activities, such as tightening a screw, help children learn to do specific things with their hands. These movements and activities bolster the child's brain to develop through the use of the hand.  

Dressing Frames

Part of the Practical Life lessons, the bow-tying dressing frame is in a series of frames that helps children learn to dress themselves. Not only does this build useful skills, but the child also learns responsibility, self-reliance and independence.

Roman Arch

The Roman Arch introduces architecture and gravity to children using Roman engineering principles to build an arch that seemingly defies gravity. This exercise also teaches children to follow instructions and problem solve. 

Studying the Globe

The sandpaper globe helps develop knowledge and tactile senses. Here, a child explores our world both visually and haptically by seeing and feeling the difference between the bodies of water and land. 

Phonetic Object Box

The object boxes help children to realize that a written word is a group of sounds represented by graphic signs and that words have meaning. This is an introduction to reading.
 

Reaping a Harvest

Our garden is blooming! Children were able to enjoy a harvest of greens and radishes which they used to make a salad for the Thanksgiving feast.

Going Out

The elementary children recently enjoyed two outings including Marijane Hamann Park where they had fun playing sports and games.
