December 2022 ![]() Hot Cocoa PartyOnce again, OMS will warm up the cold December month with its annual Hot Cocoa party on Wednesday, December 14th, the last day of 2022 school year. The children will celebrate the holidays with their peers and teachers by listening to winter songs and stories while enjoying organic hot chocolate with marshmallows, petite savories, and French pastries. ![]() Thanksgiving FeastOn November 23rd, OMS held a Thanksgiving Feast. Children were able to enjoy participate by making fruit salad and mozzarella cheese with baby tomato skewers. They enjoyed that along with turkey and cheese sandwiches catered by Mendocino Farms and Pumpkin Pie from Marie Callender's. It was the perfect start to the holidays!

Dressing FramesPart of the Practical Life lessons, the bow-tying dressing frame is in a series of frames that helps children learn to dress themselves. Not only does this build useful skills, but the child also learns responsibility, self-reliance and independence. ![]() |
Roman ArchThe Roman Arch introduces architecture and gravity to children using Roman engineering principles to build an arch that seemingly defies gravity. This exercise also teaches children to follow instructions and problem solve. ![]() |

Studying the GlobeThe sandpaper globe helps develop knowledge and tactile senses. Here, a child explores our world both visually and haptically by seeing and feeling the difference between the bodies of water and land. ![]() |
Phonetic Object BoxThe object boxes help children to realize that a written word is a group of sounds represented by graphic signs and that words have meaning. This is an introduction to reading. ![]() |
Elementary
Reaping a HarvestOur garden is blooming! Children were able to enjoy a harvest of greens and radishes which they used to make a salad for the Thanksgiving feast. ![]() |
Going OutThe elementary children recently enjoyed two outings including Marijane Hamann Park where they had fun playing sports and games. ![]() |
School will be closed from December 15th through January 3rd for the winter break. School will resume on January 4, 2023.
School will be closed on January 16th in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Held from January 23rd through February 3rd, Primary and Elementary parents will have a 30-minute opportunity to observe their child(ren) in their classroom environment to see their routine and interactions with their teachers and peers.
Parent education evening will be held on Friday, January 27th.
