On Friday, September 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey, in collaboration with the New Jersey Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services, will be hosting a FREE conference - “NJ Healthy Aging Summit: Opioid Safety & Alternatives”, at the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City. The goal of this conference is to educate older adults and those who work with the aging population about prescription opioids, their risks and the resources available to prevent and address opioid dependency and promote healthy aging within the older population.

• Senate Appropriations Bill Would Keep Safety Agencies’ Funding Intact

The Senate Appropriations Committee on July 31 approved a bill that would maintain current funding for OSHA and the Mine Safety and Health Administration through fiscal year 2026. In its accompanying report, the committee expresses concerns over the prevalence of opioid use in the workplace, smoke-related health issues for workers, and workplace violence in health care and social services.
