Welcome back for our first newsletter edition of 2023! We hope you had a restful start to the new year. Another very busy and exciting SESAM year has started and it brings new opportunities, and inevitably, some new challenges to face.

The Annual meeting is following hot on the heels of SESAM22. On 14-16 June 2023, Lisbon will host one of the largest simulation events in Europe. Over 400 abstracts and Workshop proposals were submitted for SESAM23, the highest number ever recorded for our Annual Meeting.

This is a sign of renewed enthusiasm, and we are grateful for having received such a vast number of contributions. This shows that SESAM is one of the major events to present cutting-edge research in simulation. And I would like to recognize the extraordinary contributions from our Scientific Committee.

We are all striving to advance our activities across all our missions of research, training and practice.

Continuing a long-lasting partnership, SESAM was present at the 5th Saudi Health Simulation Conference in November 2002.

The theme of the conference, “Healthcare Simulation and Beyond”, was perfectly met by the presentation of SESAM past president Dr. Ralf Krage, currently Director of the Medical Simulation Center of the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences in Dubai.

In the second plenary of the conference, Dr. Krage talked about value-based simulation and how we need to further implement simulation concepts by modernizing curricula.

We are very happy to be able to further grow our cooperation with the Saudi Society for Simulation in Healthcare and continue the tradition of SESAM leadership representing our society at the Saudi conferences. It is through these cooperations that we all can contribute to the global growth of simulation-based education and patient safety.
