Letter from the PresidentHello all, and welcome to summer! I know all of you are excited that we have received some much needed rain here lately, and summer vacation season is finally here! However, I do ask each of you to keep our fellow businesses in Lexington in your thoughts and prayers as they continue to try to figure out how to move forward after their devastating fire a couple of weeks ago. I have seen there are several funds being set up to help their employees during this time of loss of income that insurance won't cover. While they are not members of our Chamber, they are long-standing members of our beloved Davidson County. I am headed to Raleigh this week for meetings with our legislators concerning real estate in NC. I'm hoping to gather information and will report back to you later. The issues of these data centers are of great concern to me as to the long-term effects on our environment, economy, and home values. I know growth is good for all of us, but my concern is that many of our elected officials are too quick to give their stamp of approval without fully understanding all of the implications. Additionally, we are not doing our community day picnic this month, and will instead have our regular monthly meeting held at Midway Music Hall. We look forward to hearing from Davidson County Superintendent, Dr. Greg Slate, as well as an appearance from Nick Jarvis on behalf of the Davidson County School Board. The sponsor for this month's meal is by Brett's Imports, and be sure to check out our Good News section to hear more from them this month! As always, if there is anything I can do to help you and your business grow, please do not hesitate to reach out! We are strong because of each other, and community will always be our core! I look forward to seeing you all at the next meeting!!
