Dear Friends, Happy New Year! As we step into 2026, I am excited to share plans for some of the programs, initiatives, and events that will continue to drive meaningful progress in lung cancer. In 2025, LUNGevity advanced critical work across our core areas focused on transforming lung cancer. We deepened our investment in innovative research, strengthened our national community, expanded efforts to shift lung cancer diagnoses to earlier stages, and accelerated our work to advance biomarker testing and precision medicine. Each of these efforts brought us closer to a future where lung cancer is detected earlier, treated more effectively, and
understood more fully.
The work ahead is ambitious, and so is the opportunity. There has been tremendous progress in transforming lung cancer and much more ahead. The urgency is real, and our commitment is unwavering. Some of the work that we are excited about in 2026 includes: - Investing in additional innovative research that accelerates breakthroughs and improves outcomes – MARK YOUR CALENDARS! 2026 RFA Day is January 13, when we open our call for applications for innovative research projects.
- Expanding awareness of and access to early detection and screening education with more screening and awareness events such as the Lung Xperience, reaching thousands nationwide at NASCAR and other events.
- Advancing precision medicine and biomarker testing so no patient is overlooked.
- Delivering timely, lung
cancer type-specific information to patients and caregivers through LUNGevity Gateways with new webinars, blogs and resources.
- Bringing HOPE Summit to a new city to provide lung cancer survivors and caregivers space for connection and resources to learn how to live well with lung cancer. Join us in Dallas, TX for HOPE Summit 2026.
- Continuing our work
on behalf of the lung cancer community to break down barriers to patients’ access to high-quality care and treatment innovation with legislative and regulatory policy work. Join the LUNGevity Action Network to get involved.
- Expanding our installation of white flags during Lung Cancer Awareness Month to more cities and more people and mobilizing a growing movement to accelerate progress against lung cancer.
With your continued partnership and commitment, we will drive progress, close gaps in care, and change what it means to be diagnosed and live with lung cancer. Be sure to check in regularly and engage! Wishing you a fantastic 2026! Andrea Ferris
