Who knows? It’s the mantra for 2021. Even now, as we head into a new year, there is uncertainty about the road ahead. Yet as the holidays approach, it’s hard not to feel grateful: that most of us are well, will spend time with special people in our lives and, maybe most importantly, are in the enviable position to be generous.

For estranged students without family to go home to or even video chat with, this can be a lonely time of year. Community is more important than ever. As you make your own holiday preparations, please consider sharing a special message of kindness and encouragement for these students. You might also choose to make a donation to the
Vice-Chancellor’s Fund for Estranged Students.

Like every newsletter, this issue offers you opportunities to engage plus some highlights from the year that [almost] was. And speaking of gratitude, as always, thank you for reaching out, for showing up and for making a difference. Best wishes for the holidays. See you in 2022!

Share some Christmas cheer!

While this is a joyous time for many, it can be hard for some. Estranged students, without the support of family,  can feel especially lonely at Christmas, even without a pandemic.

Enter...you! Make a difference by sharing words of kindness, encouragement and cheer. Please take a few minutes, as you prepare for the holidays, to send a message that lets those who need it know their alumni community is thinking of them. Easy peasy. If you have no plans for volunteering over the next few weeks, this could be your perfect gift. Please send your message no later than Monday 20 December.
