I was scrolling on social media the other day and found a post that asked ‘How has life in Australia changed since the 1970s?’ and I saw one person comment ‘You played sport for fun and not for money’. I was fascinated by this statement and I wanted to get all of your thoughts and opinions on this, especially with the AFL and NRL grand finals this weekend. Do you think Australian sport has lost its spirit because everyone seems to be chasing money? Or do you think athletes deserve to be paid because sport is a full-time job?
