Applications Now Open for Pinellas People First Hurricane Recovery Programs

Pinellas County has launched its People First Hurricane Recovery Programs, opening access to more than $813 million in federal disaster recovery funds to help residents rebuild and recover from hurricanes Helene, Milton, and Idalia.

The People First initiative offers five programs designed to assist homeowners, renters, and landlords with repairs, reimbursements, homebuyer support, and essential disaster relief payments. These programs prioritize vulnerable residents and families with low to moderate incomes but are open to anyone earning up to 120% of the Area Median Income.

Available programs include:

  • Home repair or reconstruction for damaged homes

  • Reimbursement for completed repair work

  • Landlord assistance for rebuilding affordable rentals

  • Homebuyer support for those purchasing outside flood zones

  • Disaster relief reimbursement for temporary housing or utility costs

Residents can apply online at recover.pinellas.gov or get help from a case worker by calling 727-606-3307. In-person assistance is available at:

  • 2600 McCormick Drive, Suite 100, Clearwater

  • 5000 Park Street, Suite 4, St. Petersburg

These programs are available to all Pinellas County residents except those in the City of St. Petersburg, which will launch its own recovery programs in November.

Volunteers and Sponsors Needed for Cross Bayou & Joe’s Creek Cleanup – Nov. 8

Pinellas County Environmental Management and Keep Pinellas Beautiful are teaming up for a Cross Bayou Canal and Joe’s Creek Cleanup on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Volunteers will help remove litter and debris from the waterways and shorelines as part of the county’s Intercoastal Cleanup Campaign.

Check-in begins at 8 a.m. at the Joe’s Creek Access Site (corner of 78th St. N. and 70th Ave. N., near Crash Champions Collision Repair on Park Blvd). Trash grabbers, gloves, bags, and water will be provided, and lunch with a free raffle will follow from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Volunteers can participate on land or bring their own watercraft (canoes available by reservation while supplies last). All participants must be 18 or older, and registration is required by Nov. 6 at Facebook.com/PinellasEnviroNews or by contacting Pinellas County Environmental Management.

The county is also seeking event sponsors. Organizations interested in donating raffle prizes or hosting a display table can contact Ryan Ryczek at 727-464-4462 or rryczek@pinellas.gov.

Lealman Fire District Opens 2025 Holiday Assistance Program

The Lealman Fire District is now accepting applications for its 2025 Holiday Assistance Program, offering food and gift support to Lealman District residents in need this holiday season.

The program provides food assistance for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and gift assistance for Christmas. Applications are open to Lealman Fire District residents only.

To apply, scan the QR code on the flyer or visit the Lealman Fire District’s website. After submitting your application, be sure to check your email and phone — staff will contact you to verify information and schedule pick-up days.

  • November 17, 2025 – Thanksgiving assistance

  • December 15, 2025 – Christmas assistance

Veterans Invited to Join Special Veterans Day Football Event

The Mike Alstott Family Foundation is hosting a Veterans Day Football Game on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from 10–11:30 a.m. — a special event created by and for veterans to inspire camaraderie, connection, and physical activity.

This pre-registered event includes a chance to meet former Buccaneers fullback Mike Alstott and enjoy lunch after play. Space is limited, and registration is required to participate.
