Whole-of-Nation Symposium

On 16 February AP4D held an online launch for the options paper What does it look like for Australia to take a whole-of-nation approach to international policy. An expert panel shared their insights and sectoral perspectives on the opportunities and barriers in implementing a whole-of-nation approach, and identified lessons that can be learned from existing cross-sector collaboration.

Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Birmingham recently said that "It’s a really important phrase, that whole-of-nation phrase… it stems from some amazing work that AP4D did with a strong paper looking at how we bring the different strands of statecraft together as tools for getting outcomes."

Our program

On 21 February AP4D hosted a dialogue on 'Countering Coercive Economic Statecraft'. Experts discussed how economic statecraft manifests in the region, identified barriers to effective response, and explored how Australia could leverage its tools of statecraft and work with regional partners to counter coercive economic statecraft.

On 28 February AP4D held a dialogue to look at the question: what should Australia's role be in Pacific regionalism? Discussions focused on the challenges and opportunities that exist, and explored how Australia can be a supportive and invested part of Pacific regionalism, contributing to stability and prosperity.

AP4D dialogues are the first step in a collaborative process to produce future-facing, propositional options papers. If you'd like to be involved in either of the above consultations, please get in touch at secretariat@asiapacific4d.com.
