Saturday Edition
Hello, hello, and welcome to another Saturday here at the SDC. How lovely to have you with us once again! How are we all feeling today? Not quite awake yet? We understand. But never fear because we have just the thing to help you ease into the day. Today's newsletter is full of exciting things to get you going! But before we start today's activities, I (Vella) just wanted to take a moment to wish a very special person a happy birthday week. That person is none other than our dear team member, Sean! He turned a year older on Thursday, but we like to celebrate birthdays all week long around here! So, Sean, if you’re reading this, I hope you get spoilt rotten this weekend.
Sean came to SDC just months after I did, and I remember being so impressed with his writing skills. He's super talented and has a real knack for making people laugh. He's also one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Sean, thank you for everything you've done for us here at SDC. We appreciate you more than you know!
Right, enough gushing from me. Let's get on with today's activities, shall we?
To start things off, let’s take a look at the answer to yesterday’s riddle!
What four-legged animal can jump higher than a house? Did you get it?
Well? The answer is any! Because houses can't jump! We hope you had fun with that one. If you got it correct, make sure to head further down this newsletter, where you'll spot a shout-out just for you.
Now, let's move on to our next segment for the day, 'What Would the Grandkids Say?' Today we're taking a look at the phrase 'break the internet’. Kids today use this phrase when someone or something becomes so popular, causing a commotion on the world wide web with many social networks and news outlets discussing the same thing. This phrase is often used to describe celebrities who have done something outrageous or unexpected. For example, if a celebrity posted a controversial photo of themselves online, people would say they've 'broken the internet’. So next time something big happens and everyone's talking about it, you can
say it 'broke the internet’!
So, what's happening across Australia and the world today?

A Bunnings shopper has wowed the internet after transforming her dull kitchen sink with an unlikely $8.95 buy.
-
Speaking of Bunnings, shoppers are raving about another little-known cleaning buy from Bunnings, which has achieved ‘cult status’ after
transforming a wide range of household chores.
-
Are you looking for cheaper cleaning products? A professional cleaner revealed where she buys her must-have items for a fraction of the price - and no, it's not ALDI. Can you guess where it is?

Finally, our lineup wouldn't be complete without a hilarious joke, and member Doug S. has brought us a good one about an old proverb. Read the hilarious joke here.
That’s a wrap of your Saturday news, members! We hope you’ve enjoyed it and that we’ve been able to brighten your day. But don’t go anywhere just yet! And because we don't want you to be paying more than you have to, we'll say it again: Did you know that Health Insurers are increasing their premiums by an average of 2.90% on April 1? Although that doesn’t seem like a ‘large’ increase, for an Aussie over the age of 65 that’s an additional $167 per year for their health cover. It’s worse if you’re with one of the ‘Big 5 Funds’ - think BUPA, Medibank, HCF, nib and HBF - you could be paying a whopping $194 more per year for the exact same health cover. But that doesn’t have to be the case. Compare and save on your health insurance before April 1 here.*
Oh, and for those of you who are up for a challenge, don’t forget to check out our many games, including Alphabetical Bands/Groups Game, Alphabetical Australian
Places Game, Change A Letter Game, and 3x3 Word Thread. Or maybe you’d prefer our beloved classic games, including Word Pairs, Abbreviation Game, Word Association Game, Rearrange, Add or Subtract Word Game! Keep a Word, Drop a Word Game, and Can you name 5? As well as our Sudoku puzzles, OzGrid, and OzWord. And our card games, including Solitaire and Blackjack.
Last but not least, don't forget to try our 'expert' edition of OzWord! You can give it a shot here.
As always, members, stay safe and happy reading!

Who remembers the classic White Knight chocolate bar? It was a chewy, chocolate-covered mint bar, a childhood favourite of many Australians! From the distinctive blue packaging to the creamy, melt-in-your-mouth texture, White Knight was a true Aussie classic. It was once sold across all major Australian supermarkets until low sales saw them discontinued in 2016. Did anyone here have a White Knight-induced cavity or two?
