This monthly newsletter is created for you and your family! Thank You for Celebrating With Us Our Summer Children's "Move & Groove" Groups begin THIS WEEK! These groups* will focus on providing a structured environment for children to engage in physical activity via dance and facilitated movement activities, with an emphasis on peer interaction and spatial awareness. Various activities will be provided week to week and supporting staff will facilitate interaction between participants and transitions between activities. Meeting every Thursday, you have two options for times:
Due to the generous support of our donors, these events are complimentary / free for our families. *Groups will be limited to 15 participants per session out of caution. Once a group has reached 15 registered participants, a waitlist will be started. If you sign up for the waitlist, you will be contacted in the event of an open spot for a session. Now Enrolling: Summer "Ready, Set, Regulate!" (On-Site / Therapeutic Small Groups for Children) Designed and facilitated by our Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Ready, Set, Regulate focuses on providing a supported environment where your child can learn and practice social skills. The goal of the group is to learn and practice social skills such as taking turns, following group instructions, and managing big emotions.

These groups take place at our Lifelong Learning Campus at 5916 Dearborn Street in Mission, KS. The fee for this therapeutic service is $150 for 6 therapeutic sessions. Join us for the largest, annual gathering in the Midwest celebrating people with Down syndrome! Gather your family, friends, and supporters to recognize and celebrate the “Dream Team” of people, who are walking alongside your family on this journey! A support team, even beyond family, is so critical for your loved one’s success at all stages of life. Here is your chance to create a tradition that brings your “Dream Team” together once a year to lift up your loved one and those who have helped along the way! During Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October, we will host two Step Up Walks! KC Step Up Walk: Sat, Oct. 22nd Central Mo Step Up Walk: Sat, Oct. 8th This is a tradition with memories that will last a lifetime! Growing and Learning to Better Serve Your Family! Recently, staff from the Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired (CCVI) trained our Lifespan Service Team about visual challenges experienced by people with Down syndrome. “Visual challenges are common with people with Down syndrome, so we encourage families to access a functional visual evaluations for their child," explains Sarah Mai, OTR/L, Vice President of Lifespan Services at Down Syndrome Innovations. "The Down Syndrome Innovations’ Lifespan Service Team, in collaboration with CCVI, can assist with strategies to support any visual challenges discovered in the assessment process."
