The Beer Store Contract Cancellation |
With the Provincial Governments’ recent announcement to introduce legislation to terminate the agreement with The Beer Store, the OCC sent a letter to Minister Victor Fedeli to express concerns regarding this decision.
Despite sending this letter last week elaborating the OCC’s concern of such a move, the government has informed us that they will be moving forward.

Canadian Chamber - Vote Prosperity Platform for Federal Election
|
Canadian businesses are straining under the Seven Burdens of Business: a complex regulatory system; an out of date tax system; technology infrastructure that is failing to evolve with the times; a mismatch between the skills workers have and the skills businesses need; a lack of accessibility to tools needed for small-and medium –sized businesses to thrive; barriers to trade, both at home and abroad; and a potentially costly pharmacare system.
The Canadian Chamber’s Vote Prosperity platform is challenging all party leaders to adopt and implement the 45 recommendations to the Seven Burdens of Business. It is what our 200,000 members and the millions of Canadians they employ will be voting for in the next election.
Canadian businesses, our nation’s job creators, are not asking for a handout, they just want a fighting chance to compete and grow. Canada’s businesses have every right to expect a level playing field with the counties they compete against and for their political leaders to deliver it.

It’s All About Caring
|
There are many reasons that employers provide their staff with employee benefits. Employee retention is higher and recruitment easier. It’s typically tax advantageous with health and dental premiums not being taxable benefits to employees. The reality is when we talk to business owners there is a sense of caring.
They want to look after their employees and their employees’ families, not just as an efficient part of their business but more as an extended part of their own family. Most employers are protective of their employees and benefits help them provide some of this net of security for them.
