Thursday Edition
Good morning, members and happy Thursday! How are you all this morning? Us, we're feeling pretty good. Not just because it's Thursday and we're so close to the weekend, but because we're just thankful to wake up to another day. Today is a new day we get to spend with our loved ones, doing the things we love (like preparing this newsletter for all of you!), and we just feel incredibly lucky for that. How about you? What are you feeling thankful for today? Share it with us in our forum thread here.
Anyway, we’re getting a bit sappy now, so we’ll move on to today’s lineup! But first, it's time for our daily good morning in a different language. Today, we’re going to say good morning in Icelandic as requested by our lovely member @Sirsan. Here we go: Góðan daginn (go-thah-n die-in), members!
Now, let’s give you all the answer to yesterday’s tricky riddle. For those of you who don’t remember, the riddle goes:
What is always running but never moves, has no mouth but has a powerful roar?
This was a tricky one, eh? Well, the answer is a waterfall! A waterfall is always running because the water is constantly flowing, but it never moves because it is in one spot. It also has no mouth, but it can create a powerful roar because of the force of the water. If you got this one correct, stick around, and you’ll find a shout-out waiting for you at the end of the newsletter.
Next up on the agenda, folks, is our Fascinating Fact of the Week!
Did you know that a bolt of lightning has enough energy to toast 100,000 slices of bread? That’s a lot of toast! Each lightning bolt contains more than 5 billion joules of energy that could power an average 1,000W toaster for almost two months, enough time to toast 100,000 slices of bread! How's that for a Thursday fact, eh?
Now, what's happening in Australia and around the world today?

For today’s ‘Yesterday’s Australia’ segment, we have a lovely memory from member @Laine-daisy. ‘My most precious memory as a child is standing on my father’s feet while he danced to the old cylinder gramophone. We used to have a lot of blackouts in the 50s and 60s, so he would crank up the old machine to amuse us. My mother used to play classical records and music by Rogers and Hammerstein after we went to bed at night. I remember it was a lovely way to go to sleep.’
This has to be one of the most precious and heart-warming memories we have heard in a while! @Laine-daisy’s father dancing around the room with her on his feet must have been a sight to behold. What a beautiful memory! Thank you so much for sharing this with us, @Laine-daisy.
