Former Saudi Minister Urges Faith Leaders to Embrace Tolerance

"Mohammad Al-Issa, the secretary general of the Muslim World League… met with Jewish, Muslim and Christian thought leaders at the National Postal Museum in Washington in early December for a discussion on the war in Gaza, moderate Islamic values, and religious tolerance…

"Rev. Neal Christie, a consultant with the Baltimore-Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church, attended Al-Issa’s reception and said… that more dialogue between religious leaders is necessary to establish empathy and common values to do collaborative work that is not reflective of '…the best of who we are, which is a broader sense of love and justice and empathy for each other.'

"Al-Issa said: ‘Hate cannot add anything, but only takes people backwards, and hate cannot ever prevail and win… The mission of faith is to always bring peace and promote common values. If we don’t fulfill this mission, then we don’t represent the true values of the religion.'"
