Budget 2020: Regenerating the Arts

13 September 2022

Our regularly newsletter will resume after the period of national mourning. Below is a factual bulletin covering things we need to tell you about the Arts and Culture Event Support Scheme and the Regeneration Fund feedback opportunity.

Arts and Culture Event Support Scheme

Yesterday, the Prime Minister announced the Government’s decision to remove the COVID-19 Protection Framework. This means there are some changes that have been made to the Arts and Culture Event Support Scheme

The Arts and Culture Event Support Scheme will continue to be available for eligible events until 31 January 2023. The scheme will still operate in the same way, with some minor changes to reflect the removal of references to the COVID-19 Protection Framework. The payment eligibility has been updated to cover for registered events that are:

  • unable to go ahead, or experience overall financial loss, as a direct result of Government restrictions placed on events in response to COVID-19, or

  • unable to go ahead, or experience overall financial loss, as a direct result of a lead performer(s) having to isolate with COVID-19.

We are currently working to reflect these changes on our website and supporting documentation for this scheme.

Where to find COVID-19 information and resources:

Worksafe – advice for managing COVID-19 in your organisation or workplace.

Ministry of Health – health information and advice on COVID-19.

Covid19.govt.nz – general advice and information about COVID-19.

Regeneration Fund feedback opportunity open now

The Cultural Sector Regeneration Fund feedback opportunity is now live on our website. This was discussed in a recent article in The Big Idea. The feedback opportunity is open until 11.59pm Monday 26 September.

Anyone can submit feedback once per proposal during this time. We are most interested in feedback from people or organisations that will benefit from a particular proposal – or those with recognised and relevant expertise.
