Saturday Edition
Hello and welcome to another Saturday, ladies and gentlemen! We have a tonne of goodies in store for you all below, so get comfy, grab a cuppa, and a cheeky bikkie if you like, and we'll start digging into the juicy lineup we have in store for you today.
To start things off, let’s lift the lid on the answer to yesterday’s riddle! Let’s remind ourselves of it, shall we?
What is green and lies at the bottom of the ocean and quivers?
Did you get it? The answer is… a nervous wreck. Oh, this was without a doubt one of our favourite riddles, because it really had us stumped. Once again, we would like to thank member Marty V.R. for sending us this one. It was an absolute cracker! If you managed to get the answer correct, head down below and enjoy your shoutout!
Now onto our next segment for the day, ‘What would the Grandkids Say?’. For today we are taking a look at the term ‘periodt.’ This term simply means ‘period,’ but it is more intense or extreme. It's pronounced as (peer-ee-uht), as if you were replacing the final 'd' with very soft 't.' But you can say it exactly the same way that you would pronounce the word ‘period,’ but with a sassy look on your face. It is used by the kids today to emphasise a point being made and is often preceded by the words ‘and
that's on’ to add further emphasis. Examples include: ‘This is the best movie of all time, and that's on periodt.’ You can also use it to end an argument after proving your point. So, the next time you're arguing with your grandkids, and they’re being cheeky or throwing a tantrum, use the term periodt to show that your statement is final.
Now then, what’s happening in Australia and across the world today?

A typical after-school scene back in the late 1960s. School kids hanging around outside the “Tuck Shop” eating lollies or sucking on Sunnyboys. The tuck shops sold the best stick-jaw toffees and Scott’s pies! Yum.

Valtournenche Dézarpa
Today’s stunning photo was taken by member @Tamaya while visiting Valtournenche, a town in the Aosta Valley region of north-western Italy. She took this photo while participating in the annual Dézarpa, held every year at the end of September. She said, “It closes the summer season and is a custom that celebrates the return in the valley from the mountain pastures, where cows are brought to graze in the warmer months of the year. It is a must to have flowers on yourself, and children especially love it, as you can see from the picture that I took when I was there as part of the parade!”
What a lovely shot and a beautiful tradition. Thanks for sharing this with us @Tamaya.
