Good morning, members, and hello, Thursday! It’s always a pleasure to see you all back here, ready for another delightful day with us. Have you had a chance to step outside and enjoy the sensational autumn weather yet today? If not, make sure to find a moment to soak up some sun and breathe in that fresh air. Trust us; it does wonders for the soul!
But before you head outdoors, I (Vella) want to thank everyone who responded to our forum question this week: What is something that you’ve always wanted to do but thought you were too old for? I’ve had so much fun reading through your responses. Member @Thecheesequeen got to fly a light plane, member @Thecla went on an expedition trip to Antarctica, and member @janj fulfilled her dream of seeing Disneyland at 64. And I won’t forget member @Suzanne rose’s response, ‘To me, I think you’re never too old to do anything you feel
you can do.’ I couldn’t agree more, Suzanne! Thank you again to everyone who shared their responses. If you haven’t yet shared yours, head to our forum here.
But enough chit-chat. Let’s dive straight into today’s newsletter! First order of the day - the answer to yesterday’s riddle. If you recall, the riddle goes:
In the grocery store, Sal met his only daughter’s only husband’s mother-in-law’s only mother-in-law. Who was she?
The answer is Sal's mother! How? Sal's son-in-law's mother-in-law was his wife, and his wife's mother-in-law was his mother. Oh my goodness, I had a headache just typing that out! But a few of you got the answer correct, so congratulations! You know what that means, right? You get a shout-out! So stick around, and you’ll find a shout-out waiting for you at the end of the newsletter.
Next on the agenda for today, it’s time to share a Fascinating Fact!
Did you know that Viagra can make other things stand up - namely, flowers? It's true. A tiny bit of Viagra is enough to keep fresh-cut flowers standing up for an extra week. Ya'acov Leshem, a scientist at Bar-Ilan University in Israel, discovered the effects of Viagra on plants while studying the process of flower withering. Leshem tested his hunch by adding a small amount of Viagra to a vase of cut flowers and found that they remained fresh and vibrant for up to a week longer than usual. A mere 2% of the typical dose required for humans was enough to revitalise roses, carnations, and African daisies. Hmmm, fascinating indeed!
