Throwback Thursday: In the January 2026 issue of VIVID we posted the photo above and asked people to write in to tell us who's in it and what it's about. We heard back from faculty member Jessica Winton (BFA 1997, MFA 2016). Thanks Jessica! "It was a work involving chess pieces in response to the G7 Summit in Halifax, probably in the late '90s. I am definitely in there, as a pawn on the bottom row, second from left. It looks like I have a little headband on, and a short haircut I am now re-considering. Dennis Gill (BFA 1973) is behind me to the left (in white) and I
see Sara Hartland-Rowe (BFA 1990) and David Clark (BFA 1985) in there too with Siloën Daley (BFA 1997) next to Sara. I remember it being a very hot time, and being bossed around, while also rather confused about the project, but I was down for it! There were these very tall stands that the "players" were sitting in so as to see the board (on Granville St.) and they were probably even hotter!"
