NEWS UPDATE

21 August 2026

Publishers note

The MIA has just announced the release of detailed state data from the 2025 Health of the Australian Marina Industry Survey. These reports are assets to any business operating in this space and, furthermore, empower us when advocating for our industry. Not to mention their value to those considering investing in the sector.

Also this week, Retain Media released its latest report, showing the results of its analysis of keyword searches and which brands people are drawn to during their time searching online. The report includes some words from John ‘Bear’ Willis, no stranger to many of us, who knows our industry well and uses that knowledge to share his thoughts on the research data.

Opportunities to bring youth into our industry have taken another positive step, with Club Marine joining forces with the Boating Industry Association to encourage more Australians to consider a marine industry career. As part of the campaign, a video titled “Find your path to water” has been produced, and I have to say it is one of the best videos I have seen for enticing people to want to work with us. Well done to all those involved.

No doubt one of the reasons we have the industry we have is because of the fabulous opportunities we enjoy to live near the water. Some years back, I had the opportunity to visit Trinity Point, not far north of Sydney, and I was impressed with what I saw. The location is now going through its next transition, and the plans for its future are very enticing.
