Today's 'Yesterday's Australia' segment is thanks to member @Rosita1950. They shared this heart-warming memory as an entry to our Christmas Competition. 'My dear Mum had Alzheimer's, lived in a Nursing Home and was reduced to just one word, Tan, Tan, Tan. We never worked out what it meant. One Christmas Eve, we brought her to our home to spend the night. We gave her a lovely bath and gathered the family in the lounge. Sitting together by candlelight, we started singing the old Christmas carols with the lit-up Christmas tree in the corner.
To our greatest surprise, when we sang Away in a Manger, Mum started singing too, and she sang the whole song right through. We were amazed! It was a very special experience and a memory we all cherish because, by the next July, Mum had gone to heaven.'
Awww, what a beautiful memory. I can only imagine how special it must have been for your mum to be able to sing along with you all. This reminds us of how important it is to cherish moments with loved ones because you never know when they might be gone. Thank you, @Rosita1950, for sharing this memory with us.

Since the 1970s, KFC has been embedded in Japanese culture as a part of the local Christmas tradition and celebrations. In 1974, KFC launched their first Christmas campaign, selling a bucket of KFC's famous fried chicken and a bottle of wine. The original idea for the campaign came when a foreign customer who visited KFC in Tokyo on Christmas day said, 'I
can't get a turkey in Japan, so I have no choice but to celebrate Christmas with Kentucky Fried Chicken.' A KFC Japan sales team member overheard the remark and used it as inspiration to launch the first Christmas campaign.
