Saturday Edition
Morning everyone, and welcome to another Saturday! Anyone getting into Valentine's day plans early this weekend? Saturday's just feel a little bit more romantic than a Monday does eh? And there’s just nothing more romantic than getting straight into our daily newsletter, now is there? So sit back, relax and enjoy what we hope is the beginning of a fantabulous day!
Now before we get into the thick of things today, let's start off with the answer to yesterday's riddle. What was it again?
You throw away the outside and cook the inside, then you eat the outside and throw away the inside. What am I?
Ah that’s it! Before we were made aware of the answer, we just thought this sounded wasteful! However, after hearing that it was describing a corn cob, we can’t believe we didn’t guess it! How about you lot? If you were more switched on than us and got the answer, you’ve been treated to a shoutout down below! Pretty bloody good eh?
As many of you know, one thing we like to do on a Saturday is add to your vocabulary with some new and hip sayings and phrases. That's right folks, it's time for our ‘What Would the Grandkids Say’ segment!
Now we’re sure you have heard someone say “oh you’re so cute, I could just eat you up” before, when talking about a little baby or a puppy. Well, it seems that the youth of today have upped the ante, and introduced the term snack. So if you were to be with your significant other or someone you find attractive, you could absolutely say that they are “looking like a snack!” Now of course we don’t condone random cat calling or anything that would make someone feel uncomfortable, but it is indeed a compliment when used correctly! So don’t be afraid to tell your significant other that they are looking like a snack! It might just
brighten their day.

It is no secret that everyone is feeling the pinch of high petrol prices right now. As we look for ways to save money on fuel, some people practice the basics of good fuel economy, such as keeping your tyres properly inflated, staying on top of car maintenance, and other cost-cutting measures. But one shopper has shared her tip for saving 8 cents per litre when she fills up her tank, and she did it by going to the supermarket!
Yes, you read that right. Lauren, a mum-of-four from Newcastle, NSW, has revealed a fantastic tip that has stunned many Aussies. Lauren explained that for every $30 spent in-store at Woolworths, customers receive a four-cents-per-litre discount voucher. Apparently, supermarkets are offering petrol discount promotions that you can take advantage of, especially now that petrol prices are skyrocketing.

Compare Health Cover Now*
Three health insurance rate rises in the space of 18 months are what Aussies are being slapped with after a two year long global pandemic. Aussies were paying an average of $230.26 more for their health insurance after the 2021 price hikes. And now from 1 April 2022, a single person over the age of 65 will pay an additional average of about $75* more per year, with families paying an additional average of about $154* more per year.
What few people realise is that there are government rebates out there that could save you hundreds of dollars per year on your cover*. For eligible Aussies, the starting cost of a combined hospital & extras policy comes in at under $23 / week (or $3.22 per day) once the rebate has been claimed.
See if you're eligible for the latest government rebates to get health insurance from under $23 a week.

Bumblebee and the sunflower
Today’s stunning picture is thanks to member Mark A. It’s his entry to the SDC photo competition with the caption: “The first time visiting our daughter and her family in Switzerland we took a short walk from their home. I came upon this field of Sunflowers with only one blooming. So I waded out amongst them and got this shot, competing with a bumblebee taking advantage of the early bloom.”
How amazing is this photo? Thank you again, Mark A, for sharing this with us! We had so many fantastic entries in the SDC photo competition that we couldn’t help sharing them with you guys! So expect some amazing photos for this segment in the coming weeks.
